It has been an amazing race by the mobile phone manufactures in coming up with their greener or environmental friendly phones. Some eliminating the use of electric charging with solar energy as I had mentioned in my previous post and some by the elimination of plastic and heavy metals such as lead, mercury which are normally used in electronic gadgets.
And now Samsung had come up with its two green phone models which were unveiled in World IT Show in Seoul, Korea. The first phone Samsung W510 is the first Samsung phone made out of bio-plastic which is produced with natural materials extracted from corn, and no heavy metals are used.And the W510 would be shipped globally from Korea.
The second phone ,the Samsung F268, is made from the same material, even the accessories do not contain any Brominated Flame Retardants(BFR) or Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC). And it is packed with an alarm to alert the user when the charging is complete and encourages to unplug the charger. The phone is also set to the US Energy Star Requirements.The F268 would be shipped from China.
The really a great gesture by the mobile manufactures making their efforts to a sustainable environment and hope for more to greener phones and greener gadgets in the near future.Do post your comments.
